Here’s the secret of how to take good pictures: Good pictures tell good stories and great pictures tell great stories.

Once you stop taking pictures and start telling stories, your photography will dramatically improve.

Here’s my 5 BASIC steps to taking good pictures. The first letter of each step spells “BASIC”:  Backgrounds, Awareness, Story, Imagination, Critique.

Notice that Story is the central and most important step, so we’ll start with that.
